what makes fairstead special

Physical Education plays a very important part in the life of the school, both curricular and extra-curricular. Children are encouraged to achieve their full potential, to understand what is involved in being part of a team, to appreciate fair play and to learn the values of good sportsmanship.

A wide range of games are taught by specialist coaches including: rugby, football, netball, hockey, athletics, cross country, tennis and cricket in addition to gymnastics and dance. Swimming is taught to children in Years 3 and 4.

Regular fixtures are arranged at Under 9 and Under 11 with other independent preparatory schools in Cambridge, Suffolk and Norfolk. House matches take place each term in this gives all children in the prep school the opportunity to proudly represent their House.

“Fairstead has provided a great start in life for each of our three girls. They have each thrived and benefitted from the broad and wholesome experience Fairstead has provided. The school encouraged the children to step outside their comfort zones, to not be scared, to give things a go.”
