The only independent preparatory school in Newmarket and the surrounding area, Fairstead House is extremely accessible and easy to reach. With excellent road, rail and bus links, the School is a superb option for those with an onward commute to Cambridge or London.
Fairstead House School & Nursery is the frequent choice of private prep and pre-prep education for families not only in Newmarket but also the nearby cities of Cambridge, Ely and Bury St Edmunds. Children also come from the surrounding villages, including Swaffham Prior, Burwell and Exning in Cambridgeshire, and Worlington and Moulton in Suffolk.
By Road
Fairstead House is within 2 miles of the A14, which provides routes to Cambridge, Peterborough and the North and Bury St Edmunds, Ipswich and the East Coast.
The A11 (then M11), also within 2 miles of the School, connects us directly with London, Stansted Airport and Cambridge.
By Rail
Newmarket’s train station offers direct services to Ipswich, Bury St Edmunds and Cambridge. Many London commuters use this service to connect to Cambridge, where trains to London Kings Cross and Liverpool Street depart every fifteen minutes and non-stop services reach London in 45 minutes.
By Bus
Newmarket’s bus station is a five minute walk from the School and direct buses to Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge and London depart regularly. There are also good services to local villages such as Moulton and Barrow in Suffolk and Burwell and the Swaffhams in Cambridgeshire.
By Air
The nearby Cambridge Airport provides a limited service to European cities and Channel Islands. The much larger Stansted Airport is a 45 minute drive.
