Fairstead House is a private day School and Nursery for boys and girls aged from three months to eleven years old, situated in the heart of the horseracing town of Newmarket, Suffolk.
Fairstead House will provide your child with a unique introduction into the world of learning and discovery. We offer a bespoke and exciting education for boys and girls aged from three months until eleven years old. We are extremely proud of our high academic standards, our superb pastoral care and the happy, enriching environment we provide for our children.
Conveniently located in the centre of Newmarket on the Suffolk/Cambridgeshire border, we are an excellent choice for parents looking for a independent Nursery and School in a rural setting but with the rich cultural resources of Bury St Edmunds, Cambridge and Ely a short distance away.

Preparatory School
The Preparatory School is made up of the following departments.
Pre-prep Reception, Year 1 and Year 2
Prep Year 3 – Year 6
In both Pre-prep and Prep, each child is placed in a form where the teacher is responsible for day-to-day pastoral care as well as the academic progress of the children. Classes are small, and children in the Pre- prep have the benefit of a full-time learning support assistant in addition to the class teacher, enabling each child to receive individual help and attention. In the Preparatory School, learning support assistants provide help on a targeted basis when required.
Close contact between staff and parents is important at all times and parents are encouraged to meet and discuss with form teachers issues and celebrations as and when they arise. More formal Parents’ Evenings are held each term. In October, immediately before half term, a ‘settling-in’ evening is held so parents may meet with staff to discuss how their child is settling into their new class.

Nursery
Nestled in the School grounds, our purpose built Nursery provides bespoke care and nurture all year round in a ‘home from home’, cosy but stimulating environment.
The Nursery is open from 7.30am to 6.00pm, Mondays to Fridays, all year round (excluding Christmas week and Bank Holidays). Places are available on a term time only basis as well as all year round.
The five Nursery rooms (Foals 1, Foals 2, Yearlings, Ponies 1 and Ponies 2) are each designed and tailored specifically to the developmental requirements of the children.
The children in the Yearlings and Ponies rooms benefit from specialist tuition, including in Music, PE, Spanish, and Mandarin.
Our experienced staff are passionate about providing your child with the highest standard of care and ensuring that Fairstead House Nursery is an exciting, fun and secure place for your child to be.
When they are ready to leave the Nursery to transition to Reception, the children are confident, independent and superbly equipped to start their school adventures.
